    CAPES Annual Retreat 2025

    May 20 & 21, 2025
    The theme for this year's retreat is Harnessing AI for Suicide Prevention: Innovations and Future Directions. Join us for a two-day event filled with presentations relating to suicide prevention research. This year we place an emphasis on the use of AI in suicide prevention and suicide prevention research, showcasing recent advancements in the technology. Speakers include CAPES center director, Ed Boudreaux, PhD, along with Camille Nebeker, EdD, MS; Feifan Liu, PhD; Katherine Dixon-Gordon, PhD; Martha Zimmermann, PhD; Rachel Davis-Martin, PhD; Adrian Zai, MD, PhD, MPH; Qiming Shi; and Emmanuel Agu, PhD.

    Using the Assessment, Decision, Administration, Production, Topical Experts-Integration, Training, and Testing (ADAPT-ITT) Framework in Suicide Prevention — CAPES Education and Science Development Unit Journal Club

    May 12, 2025, 2–3:30 p.m. EDT. Presenter: Lily Brown, PhD
    Dr. Lily Brown will present an overview of the Assessment, Decision, Administration, Production, Topical Experts–Integration, Training, and Testing (ADAPT-ITT) methodology developed by Wingood and DiClemente (2008), followed by how ADAPT-ITT can be used successfully in suicide prevention using one of her recent trials focused on reducing suicide among young adults with minoritized sexual identities. There will be time for discussion and questions in this Journal Club format. Attendees are strongly encouraged to read Dr. Brown’s recent protocol paper using the ADAPT-ITT framework here.

By leveraging audit log analytics, we can move beyond static usability evaluations to create adaptive systems that meet the dynamic needs of healthcare providers. This presentation will share insights, methodologies, and findings from research, offering a roadmap for actionable improvements in EHR design and evaluation.

    Summit on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024, with over 158 registrants. The 2024 Summit was free and included talks from several leaders in the field of digital health, implementation science, community engaged research with persons with lived experience with suicidal thoughts and behaviors, and suicide prevention in healthcare settings.
