Communities of Practice (CoP)
The Communities of Practice (CoPs) were a method we employed to unite NIDILRR grantees in disability research who share common concerns, problems, or a strong interest in a specific topic. Through continuous interaction and learning, participants deepen their knowledge and expertise in their chosen areas of focusto further the goal of making a positive impact on people with disabilities.

Effectiveness in Training CoP
The session explored how to translate evidence-based research into practice through effective training. Participants discussed ways to promote the adoption and use of effective strategies in practice through training initiatives, examined the best strategies for implementing new interventions in real-world settings, and considered which training formats were most effective in producing changes in practice. They also reflected on how well-designed training practices could accelerate the adoption and use of research evidence in everyday practice. This CoP took place in 2024-2025.
Social Media for Research Dissemination CoP
"S.M.A.R.T. Social Media for Employment Research Dissemination" CoP offered the best practices for improving dissemination, developing collaborative efforts, and deepening the community of practitioners through social media. This CoP took place from 2022 through 2024.
Knowledge to Action Cycle to My Work CoP
This CoP was a follow-up to the KT Academy’s courses on the Knowledge to Action Cycle, developed by Ian Graham. Throughout the CoP, we exchanged experiences of implementation, which focused on specific topics that the community wanted to delve deeper into, and shared helpful resources to improve our ability to encourage the implementation of specific findings to happen. This CoP took place from 2023-2024.
