UMASS Chan Medical School Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Residency Mission Statement

The mission of the Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Residency Program is to educate and train knowledgeable residents, informed in the broad range of neurobiological, psychotherapeutic, social, cultural, rehabilitative, and consultative perspectives across the lifespan. We are dedicated to the training of psychiatrists who serve their community by engaging in research and providing compassionate, person/family-driven, trauma-informed, recovery-focused, respectful care, and advocacy for those in need of mental health and addiction services in an inclusive, responsive and equitable environment.

The UMass Chan Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is committed to providing an inclusive, respectful environment for its employees, leaders, and the communities we serve. Our diverse experiences, backgrounds, knowledge, and beliefs help us grow, innovate, and provide quality care to our patients.

   Meet the Residents

The UMass Chan Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Residency Program remains committed to diversifying our workforce. We will continue to use a holistic application review process and consider a candidate's experiences, attributes, and academic metrics as well as the value they would contribute to our institution and community.

Our interview will be virtual only on Mondays starting on October 6, 2025, and end January 29th, 2025. We typically release our invitations on Tuesdays and kindly ask you to reply within 48 hours.

We do not offer second looks, but if you are visiting the area, many of our residents volunteer to answer questions and provide information to help you plan your visit.
