Principal Investigator
Ningcheng (Peter) Li, MD, MS
Ningcheng (Peter) Li, MD, MS is an Interventional Radiologist at UMass Memorial Medical Center and UMass Chan Medical School. His research interests include chronic venous disease and interventional oncology. He has led multiple societal grants examining the underlying biomechanical changes in venous diseases. He is a member of the Society of Interventional Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America, and the American College of Radiology. His clinical practice encompasses interventional oncology, venous disease, hepatobiliary interventions, pain modulation, uterine fibroid and prostate embolization.

Research Associate
Sophia Esteves
Sophia is originally from Westford, Massachusetts and is recent graduate of Auburn University. She has been an undergraduate intern for the past three summers in the Gray-Edwards Lab at UMass Chan. Currently, Sophia is transitoning to working in both the Gray-Edwards and Li Lab on a gene therapy treatment for Chronic Venous Disease (CVD).

Dalena Huynh (UMass Chan)
I’m originally from Burlington, Massachusetts! In medical school, I gravitated towards radiology, and I joined the lab to continue exploring the field and contributing to the research. In my free time, I like to play pickleball and volleyball and enjoy baking for my friends.
Danielle Millner-Balagtas (UMass Chan)
Dani is a third-year medical student at UMass Chan Medical School. Originally from Tampa, Florida, she went to college in California before moving to Worcester for medical school. Her research in Dr. Li’s lab focuses on Y-90 radioembolization and outcomes in hepatocellular carcinoma. In her free time, she enjoys swimming, trying new recipes, and watching football with friends.
Shabaz Khan (UMass Chan)
I’m currently a third-year medical student at UMass Chan Medical School originally from Napa Valley, California. As a nontraditional student, I began my career as a substitute teacher and personal trainer before transitioning to medicine, where I developed an interest in radiology. I joined the lab to explore interventional radiology and contribute to the ongoing research within the field. Outside of medicine, I enjoy sports such as basketball and working on my art.
Quynh Anh (Annie) Phan (UMass Chan)
Annie is interested in improving clinical imaging through education, advocacy, and research. Her research interests include interventional radiology, breast imaging, and health equity.
