June Fellow Spotlight: Padma Srivoleti, MD

In this month’s Fellow Spotlight, we feature Padma Srivoleti, MD, aGastroenterology fellow at UMass Chan. We recently caught up with Dr. Srivoleti to learn more about her clinical and research interests, why she chose UMass Chan for her fellowship, and why Central Beach on Coronado Island is her favorite place to travel!

Hometown?

Bengaluru, India

What are your clinical and research interests?
Inflammatory Bowel Disease, immune-mediated colitis, and colorectal cancer screening.

Why did you choose UMass Chan for your fellowship?
I chose UMass Chan because of its strong mentorship culture and the genuine camaraderie between fellows. The opportunity to train under leaders in the field who are committed to the growth of their fellows was a key factor in my decision. There is diversity in clinical exposure with the transplant program, advanced endoscopy rotations, and the IBD center. It’s a privilege to be a part of a community that values both professional excellence and meaningful personal connections.

Are you involved in any other groups or activities at UMass Chan that you’d like to highlight?
The GI fellows at UMass Chan have Jeopardy sessions, which is a fun way to learn and unwind with the group. We also do a yearly academic debate, where we tackle a clinical case together, which is a great way to think critically and work as a team.

Where is your favorite place to travel for vacation and why?
I love Central Beach on Coronado Island.  It’s the perfect place to relax and soak in the calm, serene atmosphere.

What was your favorite book as a child?
My favorite book as a child was Harry Potter. From the excitement of Hogwarts to the themes of growth and loyalty, it never gets old!

Favorite guilty pleasure snack?
My favorite guilty pleasure snack is popcorn. I could easily eat it for all three meals a day.
