Faculty Appointment Resources

Overview

Faculty at the UMass Chan Medical School are appointed within an academic department in the T.H. Chan School of Medicine.

Employed Faculty are assigned a temporary appointment (APP, Section 3.12) at the rank and title proposed by their chair or dean until their appointment is approved through the process described below. Approval of temporary appointments should be completed within one year.

Other Faculty Appointments (Professional Staff; Affiliate, Adjunct and Visiting Faculty) are effective when the appointment is approved.

Faculty appointments are defined by TrackRank and Employment Status. The type of appointment is determined by the Department Chair on initial appointment and is confirmed in the letter of appointment.  Below are resources for the non-tenure track and the tenure-track appointments.
