Katy recently successfully defended her PhD thesis co-advised by Dmitry Korkin in the Bioinformatics and Computer Science Department at WPI and Anastasia Khvorova in the RNA Therapeutics Institute at UMass Chan. She develops and applies advanced machine learning techniques to study therapeutic small RNAs. Her thesis project involves applying artificial intelligence to develop an algorithm for the accurate prediction of potent therapeutic siRNAs. She conducted her undergraduate studies at the Colorado School of Mines and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. In her free time, Katy enjoys skiing, weight training, and hiking.
