Status Quo:
Breastfeeding offers significant health benefits, but rates remain below national targets, with only 1 in 4 infants exclusively breastfed as recommended. Difficulty accessing effective support is a key barrier to higher breastfeeding rates.
What We Study:
The study explores the effectiveness of telelactation, or virtual lactation consultation, in improving breastfeeding rates. Partnering with SimpliFed, the research will assess how virtual support impacts maternal health and infant development over a 12-month period.
How We Innovate:
Participants will have access to scheduled and on-demand telelactation visits during their baby’s first year. The study will gather data on breastfeeding practices, maternal mental health, infant development, healthcare utilization, and feedback on the usability of the virtual platform.
