Med Ed Track
The Office of Graduate Medical Education, in collaboration with the Department of Medicine, offers a two-year medical education track designed to equip residents and fellows with the skills needed to pursue a career as educators in academic medicine. Participants will gain foundational knowledge, engage in practical teaching experience, participate in curriculum design, develop a comprehensive med ed portfolio, and complete a scholarly project. These experiences are structured to prepare them for leadership roles in medical education. Upon successful completion, track participants will be awarded a certificate in medical education, recognizing their advanced training and contributions to the field.
Track Components
- Longitudinal, intensive curriculum delivered over the course of the two-year program
- Supervised teaching experiences with structured feedback
- Med ed portfolio and/or scholarship
- Mentorship provided by track leadership as well as program-internal affiliated faculty
Curriculum
- Intensive workshops
- Trainees will complete a total of five intensive workshops during the two-year medical education track. Topics include:
- Principles of didactic instruction
- Clinical teaching
- Educational neuroscience
- Providing formative feedback
- Assessment and evaluation
- Invited speakers
- In addition to the standard curriculum, the track directors coordinate bi-annual lectures given by prominent external speakers to supplement core curriculum, offered as a variety of small and large group lectures.

Application Process
- Restricted to trainees at PGY-2 level or higher with a minimum of two years left in training. Applications are currently invited from the following participating programs: PCCM fellowship, pediatrics, med-peds, radiology, GI fellowship. Trainees from other programs may reach out to us to discuss their interest.
- Application due dates
- Applications are due by March 1. Med Ed Track orientation typically occurs in July.
