General Precepting Resources and Tools – Developed as part of the New England Nursing Clinical Faculty and Preceptor Academy

The New England Nursing Preceptor Academy is maintaned by the UMass Chan Medical School/Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing (GSN) in Worcester, MA in collaboration with Area Health Education Center (AHEC) partners across the region. These resources were funded by the Nurse Education, Practice, Quality and Retention - Clinical Faculty and Preceptor Academies program grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
The objective of the New England Nursing Preceptor Academy is to develop and support preceptors and clinical faculty to strengthen and grow the nursing workforce at all levels, across all care settings. Through a variety of resources, participants learn to develop and implement strategies to improve the training, support, employment, and retention of nurses.
These resources include:
Teaching of Tomorrow: In collaboration with the UMass Chan Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, this master train-the-trainer conference focuses on building and refining foundational skills for effective clinical teaching and equips nurse educators with the knowledge and skills to be trainers back at their local institutions. Teaching of Tomorrow is a two-day workshop (one day in the fall and the second day in the spring) and you are encouraged to attend.
Preceptor Skills Webinars: More than 50 recorded hour-long webinars enhance your knowledge and skills to support nurse learners and new hires. These webinars are free, provide CE credit, and are available to any interested nurse. The webinars are organized by the nursing preceptor competencies they address.
Wellness Skills Webinars: Preceptor and trainee wellness are important! The recorded webinars offer strategies to promote wellness for both preceptors and learners.
Teaching Toolkit: The toolkit provides resources designed to support your teaching in clinical settings.
Podcasts: Short interviews and discussions introduce you to the issues that many preceptors face.
