Charlotte DeLeo, MD - Laurel House Mentor

DeLeo

Dr. Charlotte DeLeo grew up in the Berkshires with her parents and three brothers. She attended Boston University, where she earned both a Masters in Medical Sciences and a Masters in Public Health. She then attended UMass Chan Medical School, where she had the opportunity to participate in the Learning Communities program as a student. She completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at UMass in 2018 and is grateful for the chance to come full circle as a Learning Community Mentor.

Charlotte practices clinically in the Emergency Department, where she is committed to delivering high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care through a collaborative, team-based approach. She is equally dedicated to medical education, providing on-shift teaching to students and residents at all levels to foster clinical competence, confidence, and personal/professional growth. She serves as the Emergency Clinical Problem Solver (ECPS) Clerkship Director for the fourth-year Emergency Medicine rotation.

Charlotte has been recognized for her teaching and mentorship. She received the Resident/Fellow Award for Medical Student Education in 2018, the Emergency Department Resident Humanism in Medicine Award in 2018, and the Emergency Department Faculty Humanism in Medicine Award in both 2020 and 2025. In 2025, she was also named Mentor of the Year and received the EM UME Excellence in Teaching Award.

Outside of work, Charlotte enjoys staying active and spending time outdoors. You can probably find her running, skiing, biking, training for various races, traveling, or spending time with family and her two mini dachshunds, Teddy and Max.
