Qinglan (she/her/hers) received her PhD in pharmacology from the University of Houston, where she studied the role of prostaglandins in neurodegeneration using engineered hybrid enzymes to redirect the metabolism of cyclooxygenase pathway. Her postdoctoral training, focusing on developing gene therapies for SURF1 Leigh syndrome, an early-onset neurodegenerative mitochondrial disease, was carried out in Dr. Steven Gray’s laboratory at the UT Southwestern Medical Center and was supported by an NIH K99/R00 Pathway to Independence grant from NICHD. Qinglan started her independent lab in 2024 at UMass Chan Medical School. The Ling lab focuses on developing gene therapies for mitochondrial diseases, as well as diseases associated with mitochondrial dysfunctions.
